Sinterklaas (J1)

We celebrated Sinterklaas this year with our neighbours. Here is the home made pepernoten.
And when they were finished, they actually taste better then I remembered!

The presents, complete with surprize and poems (in english....)

reading the poems, while having a nice evening with fondue.

new car

Our poor Pajero was not doing so well after a few years of local service, we now have a problem with the gearbox which no-one seems to be able to solve. Time for an upgrade....

Thanksgiving

After years of celebrating just the two of us, we had a big bash at neighbours this year.

I got to the turkey a little too late (with the camera)....

Harley update (J1)

Remember that crashed Harley bike that we bought some time ago? Well it is all running now, and the cosmetics now need attention. These are some pictures of still work in progress.

It is an awesome ride though. Going to the spray painter next week to get the artwork on the tank.

Another way to pass time...

We decided to build Botswana's first and only Cornhole set.

Now that we have fun new neighbours, this will be something we can probably waste a lot of time with over the dog days of the Kalahari summer.

Here is a picture of J1 sewing the beanbags with our vintage (found) non-motorized sewing machine... (who knew he was such a good seamstress?)

As you can see from the above, we should actually be calling it "samp hole" as that is what we are filling the bags with.... samp.... not corn. But it suits the regulation "14-16 ounces" just fine.

We'll let you know when we set up our little neighbourhood league :)

Baby no more!

It's only been in the last couple of months that we've started to realize our little baby is a real live, walking, talking, potty-trained toddler. People have really started saying how OLD she looks, and we're starting to finally see it ourselves. In these photos she's a big 19 month old and it really shows.

September pictures

After all these pictures from USA and Canada, some pictures from around Gaborone from August and September.
Our annual climb of Kgale Hill with the running club, with gin and tonic at the top....

We took two trips for work to the Ghanzi District, these were some very interested kids in a small village where we stopped

At least our lodging was quite nice these, which was a plus as I got to spend my birthday there.
Our running club does an annual relay run called the 'Ostrich migration' which took place in September this year.

This is our team after finishing, we did 14 kilometres in 56 minutes.
